While leprosy is decreasing globally, Vietnam faces a notable number of new cases annually, even as overall prevalence decreases. Those successfully treated still need extended care due to lingering physical disabilities from the disease.
People Who Need Your Help:
Leprosy-affected individuals reside in villages or hospitals with their families during treatments, lasting up to two years. Alongside medication, local health authorities offer a monthly financial allowance, but it falls short of covering their needs for the entire month. Consequently, many patients seek employment outside the village, causing prolonged absences and potential disruptions in accessing crucial treatments.

Where Your Donations Go:
Due to ongoing funding challenges in these villages, Friends of the Lepers has offered financial support for:
- Monthly allowances, vital food, medications, and wheelchairs for individuals affected by leprosy.
- Aid in securing employment, building homes, and ensuring a consistent water supply for those affected.
- Support for the education of children affected, covering costs from primary to university levels, including scholarships for tuition and books.
